Payment Options & How to make a payment

You can pay for ElasticHosts services in two different ways, allowing you to combine regular and burst use.

Payment schemes

Pay by the hour:

This scheme offers most flexibility if you do not expect to run your servers all the time. You deposit a prepay balance with us, from which credit is deducted automatically as you make use of the service, (rather like a pay-as-you-go phone). When your servers are off, you are not billed for CPU or RAM usage but you are billed for storage and other items in your account, e.g. static IPs.

Monthly plan:

This scheme offers a 50% discount over the hourly rates if you commit to a minimum level of resources for a minimum of one month, (rather like a phone contract). We recommend you always purchase a monthly plan to cover your use of disk, SSD, IPs, VLANs, firewalls, data transfer and licenses. In addition we recommend you purchase a plan for CPU and memory if you expect to run your servers continuously.

If you commit for a whole year in advance then you will benefit from an additional "12 months for the price of 10" discount. This offer does not apply to Microsoft licenses.

How they work?

You can set up recurring payments under both schemes – you can choose to auto-topup your prepay credit or auto-renew your payment plans when they expire. Auto-topup will automatically add funds to your prepay credit when the balance falls below a certain amount. Auto-renew will automatically extend your plan by one month, each month, like a rolling contract. We allow payment by credit card or by PayPal but please note that recurring payment is only available with a credit card.

Option 1: Top up your prepay credit

If you prefer to pay by the hour, you’ll need to add to your prepay credit.

To do this, visit the Billing page, and scroll to the Prepay Credit section, press "Add Credit" then enter the amount you would like to add in the "Make a Deposit box":

Note that VAT (UK Sales Tax) will be automatically added to the amount you enter here, unless you are a customer who does not pay UK VAT. You can then pay by credit card or PayPal.

Option 2: Add a monthly payment plan

To add a monthly plan for a service, go to the Billing page in your account. Scroll to the My Plans box and press Add plan.

Here you can add a new plan to your existing ones, or buy for the first time. On the new plan page, first select an end date. If you select an end date of over a year you will receive a discount, getting 12 months for the price of 10.

Next to this is a checkbox where you can specify whether or not you would like to auto-renew your plan. Under this you can choose the resources that you would like to add to your plan. When you have added everything that you would like to add to your monthly plan, click: Buy Plan.

For example, here we’re including 2000 core-Mhz CPU, 1024 MB RAM, 50 GB SSD, 10 GB bandwidth and a static IP in our plan, because we know we’re likely to use at least that amount of resources every month, and so would like to receive those resources at the discounted, monthly rate, with auto-renew turned on: You’ll then be taken to the order confirmation page, where you can review your order and proceed with payment. You can pay by credit card or by PayPal, or with funds from your prepay balance if you have enough to cover it:
